Back from Vacation

I hope you have been enjoying your summer.  The heat wave has hit southern Ontario with a vengeance so Hubby and I were fortunate to take an Alaskan Cruise and land tour this past few weeks.  Yes, we had to wear hats and warm coats but I prefer that to sweltering heat any day!
We spent a few days in the Vancouver area before boarding the cruise ship.  It was wonderful to spend a couple of days with my good friend Gail Hunt.  Gail is not only a terrific person but also an amazing quilt artist and teacher.  She and her husband are building a home near Gibsons, BC where they used to shoot the TV show Beachcombers.
Hubby and I boarded Holland America's Zandaam ship in Vancouver and travelled up the coast stopping at Ketchican, Juneau and Seward then travelled on to Anchorage to begin our land tour.
Here are some photos of the trip.  The landscape is spectacular and we were able to see many species of wildlife including Grizzly Bears, Black Bear, Moose, Reindeer, Wolf, Otter, Puffins, Whales, etc. etc.

Scenic Rail Tour from Denali Nat'l Park to Fairbanks.
It was a wonderful trip.  Very wet and cold but well worth doing if you ever get the chance.
Now......to catch up and get ready for Fall teaching!
