Quilt Fest in Tennessee

Hubby and I returned Tuesday for our trip to Jonesborough, Tennessee.  One of my favourite online shops, Tennessee Quilts, was holding their annual Quilt Fest from July 26-29.  We took two days to drive down stopping in Ohio and in Kentucky along the way.
Here's a photo of the shop.  They carry almost every Kaffe Fassett fabric available and have all kinds of kits.  Most of the fabric is funky and bright with only a small section of antique type fabrics.  The whole shop was filled with quilts.  As a matter of fact, I think it is the best quilt shop I've been to.  The shop was featured in the Spring/Summer 2011 edition of the Quilt Sampler magazine.

The shop was spotless and well staffed.  As you can see from the photos, the stock was beautifully displayed and I can't say enough about how nice the staff was!!!
Here are a few photos of Jonesborough.  It is the oldest town in Tennessee and is known for it's storytelling theatre.  Each week they have a different Teller who performs daily.  We enjoyed a performance by an Irish Teller.  I can't think of his name at the moment but I could have listened to him for hours and hours.

My two-day workshop was with Lenore Crawford who is known for her photographic art quilts.  It was a very good workshop.  Each student had their choice of one of Lenore's patterns then we went through the process step by step as she approaches her work.  There were 21 students in the workshop and all were doing one of about 6 different patterns.  Lenore collected a kit fee which included the pattern, Misty Fuse, use of paints, freezer paper and parchment paper.  The kits had plenty of everything and meant that students didn't have to bring as much to class.  I would recommend her as a teacher to any group.

Workshops were held at the Boones Creek Christian Church.  There were 9 teachers teaching each day.  We all had classrooms with none of the usual electrical problems.  We had the option of purchasing our lunch from the ladies group from the church.  They were really delicious lunches.

Janet Fogg gave a lecture during our lunch on Friday showing her fantastic quilts.  She also does pictorial quilts but with such interesting subject matter!
